Over the years I've learned a lot from essential oils, and I continue to do so daily. I have built an incredibly powerful connection with aromatherapy - a bond that has completely transformed my emotional and physical health.
On my personal journey I struggled, and still do at times, with: ~ Anxiety ~ Depression ~ A miscarriage ~ An abusive relationship ~ Acne ~ A lack of self-esteem ~ PMS ~ Mood swings ~ Candida ~ Grief ~ Stress ~ Sleeping issues ~ Overworking
I didn't put myself first and forgot that I even existed.
But then, I fell in love with the power of plants. I got hooked by the potent aromas of essential oils and their restorative benefits. Aromatherapy allowed me to heal at many different levels, to improve my quality of life, to feel better, and to learn to take care of myself.
Starting your self-care journey means paying attention to what you need to feel at your best. It's carving and claiming the time to replenish your spirit. An empty tank will take you nowhere; you have to give yourself permission to refuel. Self-care means self-awareness and checking in with yourself. It's being kind to yourself and asking for help when you're feeling overwhelmed. Not only is self-care deeply relaxing, but it also improves your self-esteem and helps you feel better equipped to deal with the stressors that arise. If you want to achieve your biggest goals, as my life and business coach Theresa Lambert says, you must be obsessed with taking care of yourself.
Yet, I am not here to tell you what to do. This is simply what I've learned from neglecting my body for so long. Self-care looks different for everyone. What feels good today, might completely change next month. And as you grow, your ways of taking care of yourself will evolve.
As you learn more about essentials oils, you might be surprised by their powers. ~ Lavender may help you ease your mind and fall asleep at night. ~ Peppermint may give you that kick in the butt you need to feel refreshed and energized in the morning. ~ Frankincense may be your best meditation buddy. ~ Lemon may bring sunshine into your day ~ Grapefruit may give you that glow that you need ~ Sweet orange may help uplift your mood ~ Black Spruce may be the oil you use in your bath to help soothe your achy body.
There are endless ways you can use aromatherapy to revive and restore yourself. As you discover new oils and their applications, you might slowly develop an affinity towards a specific aroma. They will become your life essentials, not only because of their beautiful scents but also for their incredible healing powers.
Aromatherapy is one of my favourite self-care tools. I never start a day or finish a day without it. Not only have essential oils helped me shift my habits, but they have also made me fall in love with taking care of myself.
