What I Learned at the Jilly Academy Retreat

If you've never heard of Jillian Harris, in short, she is a badass businesswoman and lifestyle influencer. I've been a big fan of her work since the day I heard about her. So when Jillian announced that she'd be hosting Academy at the Farm this fall - a day-and-a-half retreat for business owners, entrepreneurs, marketers, and content creators - I signed up in a heartbeat.

And wow, what an epic weekend full of growth, connection, and laughs!

The Jilly Academy took place at Eleven Acres, her beautiful flower farm in Kelowna, BC. Picture being wined and dined with lakefront views of the Okanagan Valley...

All weekend I connected with and learned from brilliant and bold women. Being surrounded by like-minded female entrepreneurs made me feel much less alone in my small business journey. Together, we shared stories, attended workshops, and listened to talks by incredible speakers.

Meeting the one-and-only Jillian Harris in person was magical. She is so talented and passionate about what she does. Her authenticity is like no other, and her heart is so pure.

Some of the speeches really moved me. I was reminded of how far I've come in realizing my dream, and how proud I should be of myself. 18 years ago, I first arrived in British Columbia with only a backpack. My English was minimal, and I struggled with my mental health. Now, almost two decades later, I am the proud owner of two businesses. From being a wedding planner in Whistler to starting a daycare in Castlegar and launching my own wellness brand - it's been an absolutely wild ride with many ups and downs. Yet, I wouldn't change a thing if I could.

Nothing has been more fulfilling than stepping over my fears to pursue the things I love. What brought me here, is the fact that I never gave up. And it's not over yet, this is just the beginning.

So thank you Jillian, and everyone else at the retreat, for reminding me of what I am capable of. This magical weekend left me feeling empowered and inspired to use my voice to make a difference. Having this opportunity to be part of the Jilly Academy on the Eleven Acres farm is something I won’t forget.

My heart is full until we meet again.

XOXO

Marie-Pier
